TROPES ::
About Me :: I’ve always been a storyteller, even before I knew that’s what I was doing. As a kid, I’d turn every car ride or walk in the woods into an adventure—one minute we were pilots in a bomber, the next a platoon on patrol. I guess that imagination never really left. I grew up in Northern Virginia, spent my career writing columns and features as a freelancer, and eventually decided to see if I had what it took to write a novel. Turns out, I should’ve started sooner. Writing has become the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. These days, I live back in the D.C. area with my wife, Meg, our two dogs, and three cats, doing my best to write a little every day (as long as there’s something to sip on).
About my books :: I write crime and thriller fiction that’s grounded in real people, real places, and all the messy motivations that make us human. My stories move fast, twist often, and try to land somewhere between grit and heart. The Jackson Clay & Bear Beauchamp series earned the 2024 LitStar Award for Outstanding Book Series, and my novels Country Roads, Chasing Devils, and The Woodsman have each picked up their own recognition along the way. My newest, HAPPYLAND, keeps that same spirit—stories that entertain, surprise, and hopefully stick with you long after you’ve turned the last page.
